Various substation security projects
Providing consultancy services to electricity industry clients for the implementation of integrated substation security projects. These assignments involve the preparation of the specification and tender, performing tender evaluation, contract negotiation and project management for the implementation of an integrated state wide substation security system requiring the installation of access control, electric fencing, visual monitoring and intruder detection systems in our clients’ substations. The security system is centrally controlled and monitored via a common state wide telecommunications network. We have undertaken one project in Tasmania comprising 45 substations and another in Queensland initially comprising 27 substations.

Performing design, preparation of specification and tender, tender evaluation, contract negotiation and project management of numerous operational telecommunications and related projects for our clients including:
- a state wide mobile radio network;
- an operator console and dispatch system for our Client’s network operations centre;
- a statewide digital microwave radio network;
- operational telecommunications for Wind Farm sites.

Provision of radiocommunications engineering consultancy services to our Client (including: conducting electromagnetic interference (EMI) studies and EMI mitigation studies, and contributions to development applications as required), for the establishment of a number of large wind farms in South Australia and Victoria.

Hydropower training course
We deliver tailor made Hydropower training courses to meet our client’s needs. For example, in January 2015, Acutel Consulting hosted engineers from a hydro generation power company in Uganda for a comprehensive eight day vertical turbine shaft and bearing alignment training course. Our suite of Hydropower training courses includes: hydro machine shaft and bearing alignment; Hydro machine vibration diagnostic (basic, intermediate and advanced levels); practical root cause analyse (RCA); streamlined reliability centred maintenance (RCM); and hydro machine technical knowledge transfer (including hydro machine failure modes).
